Sleepless nights, crying babies, juggling a pacifier, rocking the baby, putting her back to sleep – oh, aren’t newborns fun? I think every mom has been there where you just get baby laid down, asleep, you lie down in bed, close your eyes and drift off and “WAAH” starts off in the background. You get out of bed, head over to the crib or bassinet and start the process all over again.
I recently had the opportunity to test the Fisher Price Rock N Play Sleeper with my 6-week old niece, Kara. Kara has had some issue laying on her back flat so I thought this would really save her and her mommy some sleepless nights if it worked. You see, the Rock N Play Sleeper is the only infant seat that meets the requirements of a bassinet so it is perfectly fine for your baby to sleep in it!
It has a inclined seat which is great for babies who struggle with sleeping flat and has a harness to keep baby safe while sleeping or playing.
I asked my sister in law, Aubrie (who also writes for The Buzz 4 Moms) to write down a few things that she as a new mom really loved about the sleeper.
“I absolutely love this rock and play sleeper. When Rachael first brought it to my house, I so excited to try this out. The great thing about this sleeper is the angle at which she is cradled. Kara was having a hard time going to sleep on a flat surface, but she would fall asleep great when we propped her up on pillows. The first night we used this, Kara slept about 4 hours without even stirring. Before, she was going about 3 hours in a traditional bassinet.
The height of the sleeper works great for having her sleep in our bedroom. When she wakes up after losing her pacifier, I can just reach over and put it back in and rock her back to sleep. I can also stand and rock her without bending over by just using my foot. I loved that since before, it was causing my back to hurt to bend over and rock her. It doesn’t rock very far; it’s only good for gentle rocking. That’s all that Kara required though.
I loved this cradle so much that when we took a weekend trip, I insisted on taking this with us. We weren’t sure if both the stroller and the sleeper would fit; but I told my husband that I would rather carry her in a sling through the Mall of America and leave the stroller behind than leave the sleeper behind!
It does fold up to a very nice size though it’s a little harder to fold up than I would like. However, it’s nice to know that it won’t just collapse in on itself while she is in it.
All in all, this sleeper has been one of my favorite accessories and I would never want to go back to the bassinet.”
