I can not believe that Abigail is 3 months old now. The last three months have flown by and have been filled with things I never would have imagined. Since she was born 9 weeks early, we have had a few challenges and at times, I have wanted to hide from what the next thing that might happen. The first 3 months of Abigail’s life were filled with eating, sleeping, and diaper changes. She didn’t do much else but all that has changed.

We now get daily smiles and she is trying hard to “talk”. She is definitely behind developmentally for her age but if we go by her gestational age she is right on time. Gabriel, our 2 year old, can’t get enough of her. He will often climb up on the couch because Abigail “talking” to him and she loves him.

At one month old, she was still in the hospital. At 2 months, she had just had another blood transfusion. At 3 months old, she more than doubled her birth weight and we found out that her body had finally begun to reproduce its own red blood cells. Finally, we could say goodbye to weekly blood draws and monthly blood transfusions.
Throughout these 3 months, I have struggled and struggled to actually nurse her. She does get breast milk but that’s because I have been exclusively pumping. We finally received answers that she has a cleft palate and may never nurse. I have to admit that I am still trying to reconcile myself to this development. I just kept hoping that I could put the pump away.
Although we have this new development, Abigail is growing and getting healthy. We love her more and more each day.Tweet

She is so precious! And so thriving!
